A webcam that shows a black screen or is not detected at all is frustrating when you have a meeting or a video call waiting. The first thing to check is the simplest, many laptops have a physical privacy shutter, so make sure it is slid open, since that catches more people than you would think.
If the shutter is open and the camera still will not work, it usually comes down to a driver problem, a software permission, or a hardware fault. We will work through each of those, getting the camera recognised and working again where it is a software issue, and where the webcam itself has failed, we can replace it.
